Tuesday
Another great day of weather - a few thunder storms for the afternoon, but mostly sunny. Our Spiritual theme today is that our friendships should help us grow closer to God - like iron sharpens iron. We talked about what tools we have that can help our friends grow closer to God, and what tools our friends have that could help us grow closer to God. But it is camp too, so the guys had craft today and the girls hit the lake. And in the afternoon - the great shaving cream war. We are on break, but then to supper and our evening game. Here are a few pics....

It is late afternoon and we have a bit of free time (45 minutes) before supper and the evening activities to hang out and visit the Snack Shack. Our theme today was to focus on the 'one another' passages and how they relate to being a Christian friend. But we also hit the lake, did crafts and played games. Here are some pics...

Today we laid the foundation for talking about friendships. We saw that God created us with four basic relationships: With God, With Others, With Creation, and With Ourselves. Sin marred these relationships, but thru Christ they are being redeemed. We are pulling out the relationship with others and looking this week on what it means to be a Christian in our friendships. Our Worship time was led by Adam Hill, and for the first night the kids really sang out. We also had supper (chicken tenders and mac & cheese, roll, salad, and ice cream), hit the pool, played Capture the Flag and then lights out.

Theme
Although God has designed us to need relationships with others, it takes skill and wisdom to find, develop, and keep healthy friendships. As 4th & 5th graders, kids are just beginning to understand how important friendships are in their lives. Oftentimes, kids are left to learn about friendships from their own feelings and what they see modeled around them by parents, other adults, TV, etc. At Camp, the kids will have the opportunity to learn biblical principles and basic skills of being a good friend. Helping the 4th & 5th graders discover that Jesus is the best friend they can have, and how to follow His example of being a friend to others, will equip them to enjoy healthy relationships now and in the future.
