Wednesday

Our last full day of camp, full of all the traditional things - Shaving Cream fight, Kiddie Pool Kickball, swimming, and our bonfire. Today we reviewed the Gospel, and what Jesus did for us on the cross thru His death and resurrection, that our sins are forgiven forevermore. It was His loving-kindness that reaches out to us as we response in faith. It has been a great week with your kids, they are a great bunch. I couldn't help get a little nostalgic (and corny) thinking of the movie Stand By Me, where the writer ends the movie with the line, "Although I haven't seen him in more than ten years I know I'll miss him forever. I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anybody?" Just watching these kids run thru the fields, playing kickball, telling jokes, and laughing has been a joy - and for them the stuff of memories. Over the next few days the stories of camp will keep coming out (after they have slept for a day or so), encourage them to share the great times, and maybe re-live them yourselves. And don't forget thru the stories ask them about the spiritual lessons of the week, they hear and absorb so much more than we know! Anyway, a great week!
